Tips is a hip outside bar in the Mikocheni area where people gather to drink beer towers, cocktails, eat food and listen to some amazing music. The energy is always wild when I come here yet intimate enough to make it feel like I'm at a friends house party. Shouting your favourite songs at the top of your lungs while dancing under the stars is best done at Tips. One of the best things with this bar is that they have a kitchen that is open late and serves simple fast food. So after hours of dancing you don't have to stumble out in the night looking for food. Just order some chips (French fries) smothered in ketchup and chilli, and grilled chicken or beef to get the perfect late night snack. There is no entrance fee to Tips, but the club closes at 4 am which is earlier than most clubs in Dar.
Triniti is a guest house as well as a bar and restaurant located just in the beginning of the hip peninsula called Masaki. It is a cool laid back bar with fun activities and interesting people coming through because of the guest house. Every other Wednesday of the month they host the event “Trinity Trivia” where people meet up and play Trivia in teams. It is a super fun way of making new friends in the city and you get to show off your trivia skills! Later in the evenings Trinity fills up with people and becomes a club with a DJ, loud music and flashing lights. Entrance is 10,000 tsh. The clientele is a mix of modern Tanzanians and westerners who are either staying at the guest house or expats working in the country.
Samaki Samaki (masaki branch)
Samaki Samaki has no entrance fees which makes it the perfect restaurant and bar to start pre-drinking. The drinks and beers are not exceptionally cheap here but the vibes and the music is off the charts and will bring anyones mood up. People are standing up and dancing around their tables and shot girls are always close by pouring up shots. Don't worry if you get a bit tipsy, several clubs are within walking distance from the bar. Samaki Samaki has three branches but the one in Masaki is our favourite. The branch in Mlimani City mall is also fun but from there you will have to travel further if you want to continue to a club.

Currently one of the hippest clubs in Dar and a place where you will see the very fancy, modern segment of young Tanzanians. The house DJ is "DJ Pac" and the music is almost exclusively a mix of hip hop and rap, afro beats, South African songs and bongo flava. Everyone who is anyone parties at Elements and it gets really fun after 2 am, before that the club is usually half empty. The space is not very big and gets really crowded during the weekends after 2 am so keep that in mind. Entrance is 10,000 tsh.

Next Door
This club is quite new and has a very modern look to it. It sits right across the street from Elements and the big space is similar to modern clubs in LA or New York. If you like air conditioned spacious clubs then this spot is for you. The music played is a mix of pop, electro, hip hop, Afro beats and bongo flava. Entrance is 10,000 tsh.

Rasta Land Art Gallery
This is one of the most chill bar and restaurant you will ever find in Dar. The big sign coloured red, gold and green reading "rastaland" fits very well with the vibe of the place. The managers are super laid back as they walk around the place making sure visitors are comfortable. Reggea music is played from the speakers and the outside area is perfect for enjoying a cold bear and a bite to eat. Our favourite snack here is the chapati and “ngisi” - squid smothered in a spicy sauce. Later in the evening the bar gets a bit more crowded and the clientele is a mixture of Tanzanians and expats living in the surrounding area.
We hope that you will enjoy our list of favourite bars and clubs in Dar es Salaam. We definitely have had some unforgettable and (forgettable) nights in these places.
